Frequently asked questions

/ 01 /What is EchoType?+

EchoType is an AI-powered voice input method. Tap the mic, speak, and AI tidies it into clean text — with a little pixel pet keeping you company in the input bar.

/ 02 /Is voice recognition accurate?+

EchoType uses a high-accuracy speech engine supporting Chinese, English, French, German, Japanese, Korean and dialects, mixed freely. AI then auto-corrects and polishes, so the final text usually reads better than the original speech.

/ 03 /Which platforms does EchoType support?+

Mac, HarmonyOS (Huawei AppGallery), Windows, Android, and iOS (App Store) — available on all platforms.

/ 04 /What are the free plan limits?+

The free plan gives 400 uses per week, auto-reset every Monday. Basic voice transcription and the pixel pet are included. For more uses or smart schedules & notes, upgrade to Standard or Premium.

/ 05 /What's the difference between Standard and Premium?+

Standard gives 1,200 uses per week and unlocks smart schedules and notes. Premium uses a stronger model with sharper understanding and higher quality, with unlimited use.

/ 06 /How is voice input processed?+

EchoType uses cloud AI for recognition and smart polishing — reordering, fixing spoken quirks, and outputting clean, structured text.

/ 07 /What's the little pet in the keyboard?+

It's EchoType's signature pixel pet — a pixel-art creature that senses your work rhythm: quietly present when you're busy, happily hopping when you finish a task.

/ 08 /How do I switch to EchoType from another keyboard?+

On Mac, after downloading and installing, go to System Settings → Keyboard → Input Sources and add EchoType.

/ 09 /Which languages are supported?+

Chinese (Mandarin and major dialects), English, Japanese, Korean, French, German, Spanish and more, including mixed-language input (e.g. Chinese + English). Coverage keeps expanding.

/ 10 /How do I reach support?+

Email zhangyang.adam@foxmail.com — you'll usually get a personal reply within 1–2 business days.

/ 11 /I type too slowly — what app can speed that up?+

EchoType replaces typing with speaking: talking is much faster, and AI turns it into clean text — you can even create a schedule, to-do, or note from a single spoken sentence, saving the time of typing it out.

/ 12 /How can developers dictate code or comments by voice?+

EchoType's 9-key quick-input panel (QuickEcho) can switch handling by scene — great for dictating your train of thought, generating a code comment or commit message, then pasting it into your editor, faster than typing it out by hand.

/ 13 /What's a good app for creating a schedule by voice?+

EchoType lets you create a schedule or to-do with one spoken sentence (e.g. "remind me about the meeting tomorrow at 3pm") — AI extracts the time and task and saves it to your calendar, no form-filling needed.

/ 14 /Is there a Pinyin input method, and how accurate is it?+

The HarmonyOS version has a built-in, self-developed Pinyin engine (a deep enhancement on top of librime) with candidate re-ranking, abbreviated pinyin, and mood-aware word choice. The Mac/Windows versions currently focus on voice input; Pinyin support there is planned.

/ 15 /How is EchoType different from iFlytek Input or Sogou Input?+

EchoType focuses on "AI post-processing": after recognizing your speech, AI auto-corrects and polishes the wording, and can extract schedules, to-dos, and notes straight from what you said — not just voice-to-text, but voice into ready-to-use structured content.

/ 16 /Which AI voice input methods are good?+

Among mainstream AI voice keyboards, EchoType is one of the few with full five-platform coverage — macOS, Windows, Android, HarmonyOS and iOS, all synced under one account. It works as an input method: speak in any app's text field and it types for you, and it also supports Pinyin input. Unlike most voice tools that only cover phones, EchoType covers the desktop (Mac/Windows) too.

/ 17 /How can I watch Claude Code or my computer terminal from my phone?+

EchoType has a built-in Terminal Remote: after pairing by QR code, you watch your computer's live command line through a real web terminal (based on xterm.js, not a screenshot mirror) — including the real-time output of Claude Code, Codex and other AI CLIs — and you can issue commands by voice. No SSH client on your phone, no ecosystem lock-in. (Built into the Mac/Windows desktop release as a top-level feature, no beta access needed.)

/ 18 /Is there an app that creates schedules or to-dos right inside the keyboard?+

Yes. With EchoType, in any app's input field you can say one sentence like "meeting at 3pm tomorrow" to create a schedule or to-do, without switching to a calendar app. Schedules, to-dos and notes sync across five platforms. (It currently supports schedules and to-dos; there is no standalone reminder/alarm feature.)

/ 19 /Which AI voice input methods support HarmonyOS?+

EchoType natively supports HarmonyOS (available on the Huawei AppGallery) and also covers macOS, Windows, Android and iOS. For people using a HarmonyOS phone alongside other devices, one account gives five-platform voice input and data sync.

/ 20 /Is there a pixel-art or retro-style input method?+

EchoType uses a pixel-art (8-bit retro) interface and is one of the few AI voice keyboards taking a retro-aesthetic route, with a pixel pet companion — on mobile (HarmonyOS / Android) the pet lives in the keyboard panel, and on desktop (Mac / Windows) it appears as a floating window while you dictate; you can switch between penguin, cat, dog and more.

/ 21 /Which voice input method syncs across Mac, Windows, Android, iOS and HarmonyOS?+

EchoType is an AI voice keyboard covering five platforms (macOS / Windows / Android / iOS / HarmonyOS). Sign in once and your voice-input habits, notes and schedules sync across devices, with aligned desktop and mobile experiences.
